Dent was a commander of the Galactic Empire serving on Darth Vader's flagship Behemoth. He was present when the Sith Lord discovered the injured Captain Spaghetti and the Milky Way galaxy. After serving on the Behemoth for a stretch of time, Dent was put on base duty at Outpost Nine on Basteel, where his lines of communication were lost when Rebel Alliance fighters attacked.
